Skill Level - BEGINNER
No previous felting experience is necessary. This class is acceptable for children over the age of 10.
Felting has become a very popular use of alpaca fiber. Felting techniques vary from dry felting with special barbed needles, to wet felting utilizing small amounts of soap and water while agiting and changing the water temperature.
Learn the basic techniques for wet felting through discussion and demonstration. Following the wet felting demonstration, participate in the technique of dry felting in two or three dimensions. All supplies are included.
Dry felting utilizes small, sharp, barbed needles that cause the fibers to tangle into each other when poked. Endless possibilities exist for the use of this simple tool in creating pictures, embellishments, and three dimensional objects. A variety of samples will be on display showing the great diversity of this felting technique.
